Loveswept EDT by Philosphy

Loveswept EDT by Philosophy, 2oz

I got a sample of this on a Sephora card when they were pushing their 3x points deal on fragrances.  I really wasn't sold at first.  It was one of those scents that I liked, but didn't love, but after letting it sit for a little bit I couldn't help but grab me a bottle.

It's a great fragrance.  Citrusy, a little flowery, a tiny bit tart and a tiny bit sweet.  Here are the notes:

Bergamot, Blue Violet, Lotus Blossom, Pink Jasmine, Purple Passion Fruit, Skin Musk, Creamy Amber, White Cedarwood.

This was kind of pushed a little for Valentine's day, but I didn't find it "romantic" enough.  It's more daytime, casual, but fun and sparkly at the same time.  It...feels young, I guess.

The smell was amazing, however, the lasting power left something to be desired.  After a couple hours I needed a retouch, but luckily this perfume is far from overpowering, so a tiny retouch won't cause people to faint from heavy smells.

This is currently available at Sephora in 3 sizes -.33 oz rollerball($20), .5 oz mini spray($16), and a 2 oz spray($46)

Vanilla Cupcake from Yankee Candle

Normally I like to stick to the seasons when it comes to my constant candle burning, but this one is good all year round.  Yankee Candle does a good job of capturing whatever scent they want, so as you can imagine, this scent smells exactly like vanilla cupcakes!

I hear people say this has a strong throw, but for me it was about medium.  I could still detect the scent in the large room I was burning it in.  If I wanted it stronger I would of just burned it on my desk, but I really like the lighter, yet distinct smell of vanilla cupcakes right out of the oven!

I should also mention how much I LOVE my illuma-lid.  I love the finish and the puppies are adorable.  I actually have several illuma-lids, but this one is probably one of my favorites.

BareMinerals True Romantic Collection

I really love this collection and I even used the entire collection for my Valentine's day look.  You can see that here.

The first thing I fell in love with was the packaging.
The rose gold was absolutely beautiful!

The shadows were absolutely beautiful! They definitely have a romantic tone that lends well to the name.

The True Romantic Quad: Left to Right - Love it, Woo is Me, Louder, Head Over Heals

My swatches don't do the quad justice.  The ready formula is known for its easy/buttery application and this did not disappoint.  I had to pack on Woo is Me a little more than my other shadows in the ready formula but it was still absolutely breathtaking.

Love It is described as a "light mint shimmer" which seems like a pretty spot on description
Woo is Me is described as an "apricot sheen", although there are a lot of dimensions to this shadow and to really get a feel for it I think you'd have to see it in person
Louder is described as a "burnished copper" which is a good description although I see a medium gold element to it
Head Over Heels is described as a "warm slate" although I see a little brown in it.  This is the only matte shade in the palette and it is beautiful!

I was a big fan of their old stick eyeliners (Big & Bright).  This wasn't my favorite, especially in comparison to their old formula or pencil liner's like Urban Decay's.  It was a little difficult to apply to my waterline but once I got it there it wore decently.  I needed to reapply a few hours later.  I think if you just use it on you upper lid or lower lashline the wear time would be longer.
Lasting Line Long-Wearing eyeliner in Always Charcoal

BareMinerals Loose Blush in Swoon
The blush was the selling point for me.  When I first saw it I "swooned".  It was a beautiful pinkish coral shade with a matte finish.  I don't have a lot of matte blushes so this was a must have for me!

Swoon swatches

Once again my swatches don't do this product any justice!  I'm especially sad I couldn't capture the beauty of the blush because it was just so phenomenal and it applied like a dream.

Marvelous Moxie Lipgloss in Heartbreaker and Lipstick in Feel the Love

Both the lipstick and gloss were very pretty, although if you have other light to medium pink lipglosses, you could probably skip this purchase.
I was a bit scared of the lipstick at first because it is described as a "caramel-rose pink".  When I hear caramel I think warm and brown, and with my very cool undertones, those tend to make me look awful, BUT!  This turned out to be a GORGEOUS shade and it seems to work on most anyone.  I've seen it worn on a lot of different skin tones and it seems to be beautiful on everyone.  The wear wasn't particularly long and required touch up frequently, but that might be because I'm a lip smacker!

BareMinerals LIQUID Foundation?

Hmmm... BareMinerals liquid foundation.  I never thought I'd say those two words in the same sentence.  But alas, it is true, although they are calling it BareSkin and saying it's more of a serum.  Sorry guys, I'm just calling it like it is.  It's not a bad concept, really.  As a person trying to get her Master's in Business Administration I'd be the first to tell you innovation is key!  I don't know how I feel about this though.  BE was the first makeup brands I got in to and I still use their loose foundation and love it.  I got the e-mail this morning and went to go check it out on QVC.  The brush it comes with is...interesting to say the least, but I've seen weirder brush concepts.

Even though I clearly have my reservations, will I be trying it?  You bet your sweet butt I will!

You can pre-order on QVC now for $39.96.

PurplecatCreatives Sugar Scrub - Gossamer

I recently found love at Etsy!  I'm pretty sure it's been around awhile but I just caught on.  It's such a great place to find unique and quality items for a good price.

There are a few shops I'm very much in love with and PurplecatCreatives is one of them.  So many different products!  There are scents that are available all year round and then there are scents that are updated seasonally.  I believe the spring/summer collection is just coming out so give the shop a look!

One of the first items I grabbed was a sugar scrub.  I have rough, horrible skin in the winter and all the other scrubs I tried didn't have enough particles to slough away my awful buildup of dead skin (gross, I know).  I stumbled onto these gems by accident and boy has it made a world of difference!

The creator of these sugar scrubs describes the texture as scoopable, like raw cookie dough, and she is right.  They are the perfect consistency for those with rough patches that need scrubbed away.  It can be a bit abrasive so I would warn those with sensitive skin to scrub very very lightly.

After using the skin feels soft and moisturized and the dead skin cells are a thing of the past!

The packaging is ADORABLE, and with the scent selection you can't go wrong.

Gossamer, the scent shown here is described as "Elegant jasmine and orchid blossoms balanced with black pepper, bulgarian rose and nuances of oak".  It look my nose awhile to get used to this scent and although not one of my favorites, I can see other people loving this smell.  There are a lot of scents to choose from so there is something for everyone.

The price is very reasonable at $6.50 for 4 oz.

Check this and other products from PurplecatCreatives here!

Rating for Gossamer Sugar Scrub

Mad About You - Bath & Body Works EDT

Mad About You EDT

Top Notes: Black Currant, Luscious Strawberry, Sparkling Cassis
Mid Notes: Ginger Lily, Bright Peony, Pink Jasmine
Dry Notes: Amber Wood, White Patchouli, Vanilla Musk

This was a lovely scent.  To me, it is unmistakably a Bath & Body Works scent.  On first spray I smell a lovely fruity scent.  The Black Currant definitely stands out.  The dry down was lovely as well.  Once again, it's that signature vanilla Bath & Body works is known for but with more...depth I suppose.

It reminded me quite a bit of their Forever Red scent and maybe a bit of their Amber Blush.  All these scents are lovely but I'm waiting for something to WOW me!

When I received the box I thought it was pretty cute.  I find the actual bottle pretty and it's not too hard to spray.

I would recommend this for the girly-girl at heart.  It makes a good daytime perfume for those who like fruity perfumes with that touch of sweetness.  The wear time on this is just okay, but better than some of their other scents.  I got a good 2-3 hours before it faded, but the bottle is sleek enough for touch ups if you need it.  Adding the matching body cream or lotion would extend that wear life.

You can find this at the Bath & Body Works webpage or store for $34.50 for 1.7 oz.  There are always deals and coupons available so make sure to look for some!

Late to the Urban Decay Naked Palette Party

I've only really been into makeup for a few years, but I've been around long enough to know how big Urban Decay's Naked Palette's have been.  I never really had a ton of interest until the third one came out though.  I would review it but there's already a million reviews on it out there and there's really very little else I could say about it.

I did recently purchase all three palette's (not counting the Basic's palette, I've had that one for a little while).  I first received the 2nd and 3rd palette and I really love them.  I didn't get the first one because people would say how warm toned it was and I happen to be a very fair, cool toned person.  I eventually caved due to my 'gotta catch em' all' mentality (kudos if you get that reference).  Even on my fair, cool toned skin the colors can still look very nice, so I'm happy with my purchase.  I do find I have to be careful with pinks and plums (I'm looking at you, #3) though because too much and it can have me looking like I have allergy ridden or black eyes.  Needless to say, the palette's are all wonderful although I'm not sure if a person would need both 1 and 2.  It might just be a matter of personal preference.

Metallic finishes are hard on me since I'm still working on my lighting skills!

I may swatch these later for reference or for anyone curious about the colors.

Valentine's Day Look!

I can't wait to show my husband my Valentine's Day look!  I used the new 'True Romantic' collection from BareMinerals.  I absolutely love it, especially for the eyes.  I want to review this collection soon because I love it so much!

The blush was the selling point for this collection in the beginning, but I love how the eye shadow quad turned out.  Normally when I see Valentine Day looks it's a whole lot of pinks and purples.  I LOVED the pop of mint the quad had, it really made a different look compared to other looks I've done in the past and have seen just in general.
