Holiday 2014 Warm and Cool Eyeshadow Looks

I'm sorry for the late posting of holiday looks but I created a warm and cool look just in time for New Years!

Here's a picture of the shadows used:
BareMienerals Ready 2.0 in The Flashback, Urban Decay Naked Basics, SugarPill's Heart Breaker, Too Faced Pretty Rebel, BareMierals Loose Eyeshadow in Pebble, SugarPill's Loose Pigment in Goldilux
From the palettes I used the following shadows:
Heart Breaker - Velocity
Pretty Rebel - Too Fetch
Naked Basics - Crave and Venus
BareMinerals Ready 2.0 The Flashback - Deja Vu & Amnesia

I also used Brown from the Lorac Mega Pro Palette (not pictured).

If you don't have the exact shadows used, just substitute something you have in your stash that's close.

Taste Test - Celestial Seasonings "Candy Cane Lane" Green Tea

So I just posted about the #FrostyVoxBox I received.  If you missed that post you can read it here.  In the box I got a sample of Celestial Seasonings decaffeinated green tea in Candy Cane Lane.  I know this is a beauty blog but I have a passion for tea as well and I have quite a huge collection so I thought I would share some reviews/thoughts on some teas every once and awhile.

Seeing as I just received this voxbox and this tea was inside, I thought this would be a good place to start.

Rimmel London Gentle Eye Makeup Remover and ScandalEyes Waterproof Kohl Kajal Review

So in a previous post I mentioned receiving these items from Influenster for free for testing purposes.  You can read about that here.

I'm excited to review these items as they were some of my favorites that were given to me!

#FrostyVoxBox Thoughts

So I open my front door today to look for packages and to my surprise a Vox Box has shown up on my doorstep!  For those of you who don't know what a vox box is, they're boxes filled with goodies from different companies sent out to people to review for free.  To get one, all you have to do is sign up on and link your social media accounts.  I have a widget to the right that will take you right there!

I believe some vox boxes are given out at random but you have a higher chance of receiving one if your social media accounts reach a lot of people (lots of Facebook friends, Instagram followers, Tumblr followers, etc.).  They make it fun.  You review things, you unlock badges, and then you get perks.

Anyways, back to the #FrostyVoxBox!  Here's a picture of the box with the goodies inside!

As you can see, there's an assortment of items.  Keep reading for a break down of what's in it and what I'm most excited to try!

Fall Holiday Makeup Eye Look - "Pumpkin Patch"

Ah, fall is in the air!  When I think of fall I think of the leaves turning, the air cooling, and the holidays that are right around the corner.

I was thinking of certain things that represent fall and I thought of the pumpkin.  Whether being made into pies(my favorite kind, by the way!) or carved into jack-o-lanterns for Halloween, the pumpkin seems like a perfect thing to represent fall.

Here's a look with pumpkins as my inspiration!

Operation Palette #2: Lorac MegaPro Pt. 1

Welcome to the second operation palette!  This post will be featuring looks from the Lorac MegaPro Palette.

This, like the previous operation palette, features quite a large palette so I will be splitting looks up into two parts.  The second part will come later.

Please use the picture of the eyeshadows below for reference to the colors used for each look.

Operation Palette #1: Urban Decay Vice 3 pt.1

Welcome to the first in my operation palette series!  Here are some eye looks I created using the Vice 3 palette.

Because of the size of this palette, I will probably split this into two parts.

Operation Palette Information

I'm starting a new project,  I want to focus each new post on new palette's I obtain and old ones (they need love too!).  I'll create several looks from the palette and post them.  This way I'll rotate through my rather large palette collection and maybe inspire you if you have the same palette collecting dust, or alternatively, if it's a new palette, will give you an idea on if you want to purchase the palette yourself.

Larger palette's will take longer to create looks for so when I'm working on those posts will come a little more slowly.  I also might split those up if it's taking too long to create looks.

So look forward to seeing posts featuring new and past palettes.

I will dub those posts "Operation Palette"!

And that's not even all of them...!

BareMinerals 5-in-1 BB Cream Eyeshadow - My New Hero

Oh, BareMinerals, how I love you!  You always have something that solves my problems!

As I've said before I've been extremely short on time lately so doing my normal makeup routine hasn't been happening.  I normally have to focus most of my time covering my stress breakouts leaving me little to no time to do my eye makeup (which is my favorite part, btw).  Luckily my eyes don't have to go bare!

I was perusing the QVC website and stumbled across a set of three of BareMinerals semi-new BB cream eyeshadows.  I figured I might as well try them since I have a soft spot for that company. Needless to say, I am thrilled with the product and have since purchased two more.

L-R:Delightful Mint, Simply Stone, Darling Petal, Blushing Pink, Soft Linen

I normally don't really use cream eye products..or any cream products for that matter.  My skin is far too oily to handle it.  All eyeshadows crease on me within 30 minutes or so, no matter what the formula, I always prime my eyes.  Just for shits and giggles I decided to try using this product without a primer one day and guess what?  It lasted several hours without creasing.  That might not seem like a big deal to most people but to me it meant this will have great lasting power on more normal lids.

That's not the only great thing about these.  The best part is they are easy to apply.  Just dab and lightly pat with your ring finger or brush.  Voila!  Within seconds you have nicely polished looking lids.  Finish with liner and mascara and out the door you go!  The texture seems a bit lighter than other cream formulas I've tried, which lends to the ease of application.

These have been my heroes the past few weeks, and although I'm hoping to find more time to do more intricate looks with the million palette's I own, I'm so happy to have these as they make my life so much easier!  I rest easier at night just knowing I have them.

L-R:Delightful Mint, Simply Stone, Darling Petal, Blushing Pink, Soft Linen

Updates & Too Faced Paparazzi Ready Collection - Sephora Exclusive

I'm sorry about the delay in posts!  I'm still trying to find time to successfully go to grad school, do my job, spend time with my family, and run this blog.  It's hard to juggle life!

I'll post as often as I can but I still don't have a strict schedule, plus I'm thinking about shifting the focus of this blog.  It will still be mostly makeup but I want to incorporate looks featuring specific palette's.  I would normally like to pick up the newest palettes and post looks from those (and sometimes review), but I've been neglecting a lot of my other palette's!  They need love too!

Anyways, until I get that under control, here's a look at the Too Faced Paparazzi Ready collection at Sephora.

Break time

I've mentioned a few times that I'm in grad school and I work.  Lately I've had a lot of projects and I'm just about to go back to grad school.  I'll try to post as soon as I can.  In the meantime, check out my instagram for makeup fun.  I'm still getting fun stuff and I'll post it to there quickly when I can.

I hope to be back soon my makeup lovelies!

Cinnamon Sugared Doughnut - Bath & Body Works Candle

It's been one hell of a week.  One of my favorite things to do after a long day is light a good candle and play a video game.  I really enjoy sweet, bakery type scents and this week I'm reviewing a fan favorite!  That's right, Cinnamon Sugared Doughnut!

This is a favorite of mine because my favorite type of doughnut are those cinnamon twisty ones.  Oh man, so good.  If I wasn't trying to lose weight I'd go get some.  Well, at least I have this candle.  Calorie free indulgence!

#AriaNightOut Vegas Makeup Looks

I was contacted recently by the content director for and was asked to create a blog post centering around the Aria Resort.  I took a look at what the Aria Resort was and loved the pictures I saw.  Inspiration really hit me with this and I'm glad I can be apart of this 'blog party'!

People are posting a variety of things like hair, nails, and makeup.  Well, my hair and nail skills are horrible, but I definitely could put some makeup looks together to help inspire those staying in Vegas!

I created two looks to wear out and one inspiration type look based on a photograph I saw of the Aria Resort.

This place is truly lovely and I hope to visit there sometime soon!

Too Faced La Crème de La Crème Long Lasting Lip Collection at Sephora

Long post title, I know.  I bought the exclusive kit from Sephora because I was dying to try the Too Faced lipstick formula and this seemed like the perfect way to do it!

I thought I would share my opinion on whether or not it was worth it and provide some swatches for you in case you were thinking of getting it too!

Not Your Mother's Beach Babe #NYMBeachBabe Texturizing Spray

I am signed up with Influenster and was recently chosen to participate in one of their "VoxBox" campaigns.  I found this pretty neat because they just sent me a box of stuff and I get to review it.  Part of the box was Not Your Mother's hair items, I believe it was a shampoo and conditioner.  I love that they included this brand because I've been using their hair products long before I received this voxbox.  I didn't get the shampoo and conditioner in my box but that doesn't mean I can't show the brand some love!

I admit I know very little about hair products or how to style hair.  Makeup and skincare is more of my thing, but that doesn't mean I can't appreciate a hair product that improves the appearance of my hair.  Normally my hair is flat, dull, and lifeless.  Really.  Horrible.  To top that off it gets greasy after a short amount of time.  A curse, really.  I actually dye my hair to dry my hair out.  Anyways, this product really improves the texture of my hair.  I just spray it in while damp and let my hair air dry.  I'm left with a better looking hair once dried.

I bought the texturizing spray from Ulta for about $6.  I recommend trying this and at the price point it won't completely break the bank to give it a go!

Fourth of July look #2!

Hello my lovelies!  I've created yet another 4th of July look!  Break out your UD Electric palette (or comparable colors) and a bright red lipstick and get to work!

Fourth of July Eye Look

The 4th of July is coming up so I thought I would try to create some looks!  Here's what I thought of first!  It's pretty basic for an eye look but I liked how it turned out.

Eye Look - "Electric Orchid"

The inspiration for this look is a little boring.  There was an orchid on my desk and then I heard the electric slide.  Sometimes inspiration comes from the most random places!  Anyways, I decided to use my electric palette for this look and I'm pretty pleased with it!

BareMinerals 4.0 Eyeshadow Quad in "The Glass Beach" - three day-to-night looks

I picked up BareMineral's new 4.0 palette in "The Glass Beach" a week or so ago and have been racking my brain with what to do with it.  Well I thought I'd create a day-to-night look with a twist!  Normally with a day-to-night look you get two looks.  One day.  One night.  I'll give you three for the price of two!  Just kidding, they're all free.  I'll give you a day, an in-between, and a night.  The in-between can be worn either during the day or night depending on what you want and what your style is.  Have fun with it!

Besides mascara, I only use the palette, so you will only need that to do any of these looks!

Top L-R: Pacific Sands, Sea Glass,
Bottom L-R: Golden Coast, Tide Pool

Keep reading for the looks!

Kat Von D Everlasting Love Liquid Lipstick - Outlaw vs. Underage Red

I purchased Kat Von D's Everlasting Love Liquid Lipstick in Outlaw awhile ago, and reviewed it here.  I love good matte red lipsticks so I purchased Underage Red for a lighter option.  Since Outlaw is described as a brick red and Underage Red is described as a bright crimson, I figured the latter would be quite a bit brighter.  When I received Underage Red in the mail I noticed it was very similar to Outlaw in the tube.

L-R: Outlaw, Underage Red

Too Faced Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipstick - My First Purple Lipstick!

Holy cannoli I love the new Too Faced Melted Lipsticks!  I was needing to add something to my bag at Ulta for free shipping and thought 'oh what the heck'.  I even surprised myself when I added the violet color.  I have never tried a purple lipstick before because I felt I lacked that confidence and coolness factor that you see people with purple lipstick having, but as soon as I put it on it was all like... SORRY NOT SORRY!

Even as I held that lipstick backwards in my pictures....NOT SORRY!

Delay in posts - uggh grad school!

Hello my makeup lovelies!

I'm sure you've noticed a gap in between posts.  I've been very busy and I'm sorry for the delay.  I have a lot of grad school stuff going on!  As soon as it's over I plan to continue posting!  I have a lot of good ideas brewing so I can't wait to share.

Stay gorgeous in the meantime!

BareMinerals Liquid Foundation Review!

I am super excited to do this review!  I've been testing BareMinerals new serum foundation for close to two weeks now so I feel I have a good handle on how it will perform.  There will be before/after pictures below but I think this review is worth the read if you have the time!

Give me matte or give me death!

Lately I've been thinking about how much my preference in makeup has changed since I first starting wearing it.  I should probably clarify I don't count my pastel blue eye shadow phase in middle school or my super black eyeliner 'just-on-my-bottom-waterline-tyvm' phase.  I'm just counting the past few years that I've been interested in all aspects of makeup and my thirst for knowledge in learning new trends and new ways to apply things.

I was probably about 20 or 21 when I started wearing makeup seriously.  It started with glittery eye shadows.  Holy crap if it had glitter in it I LOVED it.  At the time there were two finishes to eye shadows.  Glitter and everything else.  I didn't understand the concepts of frost or matte.  I didn't realize the different effects and looks I could get by combining different finishes!

Now that I've experimented with a lot more, I find myself really loving matte shadows.  The only problem is I find them to be more limited as far as the amount you get in palette's.  I have found some full matte palettes (shown below), and I LOVE them.

I love all matte looks.  Eyes look soft and velvety.  The only complaint I have is matte shadows are a little harder to work with.  They're either to chalky or powdery.  I especially find them harder to blend out. I also want more vibrant colors.  Despite the problems though, they are still at the top of my finishes list (for now).

Here's a few of my favorite all matte palettes:

Back Row: BareMinerals A Vision in Velvet,
Middle Row L-R: Tarte Mattenificent, Too Faced Matte Eye,
Front Row L-R: Urban Decay Basics, Stila In the Know

A BareMinerals 'A Vision in Velvet'(not exactly a palette but whatever), Tarte's 'Mattenficient' palette, Too Faced 'Matte Eye' Palette, Stila 'In the Know', and Urban Decay 'Basics' Palette.

I also LOVE matte lips.  Like holy cannoli.  Kat Von D's Everlasting love lipstick has an AMAZING finish. I just wish I could get my hands on more colors!

Smashbox X Santigold - Apocolypse Now Palette Eye Look

I created this eye look using the Smashbox X Santigold palette in "Apocolypse Now"

For this look I used the green color on the left of the palette all over the lid.
I used the right brownish/eggplant shade in the crease.
I added a smidgen of the right eye color on the out portion of the lid.
The left eye was lightly patted for a highlight and a little extra glitter on the lid.
I finished this off with the center matte blue, applied wet as a liner.

Too Faced Exclusive Kits - Ulta vs. Sephora

There are two kits from Too Faced that contain pretty awesome items, especially if you're a big fan of Too Faced or just wanting to try some of their products.

L-R: Cause a Scandal, Complete Matte Eye Collection

The Sephora kit is called "Cause a scandal" and the Ulta kit is called "The Complete Matte Eye Collection".

Just one of those looks that I think I look better in NOT smiling

When I was testing out the Kat Von D liquid lipstick I was inspired to do something a little different.  Those matte lips were juts so awesome!

Smashbox X Santigold Eye Palette's - Apocalypse Now & Earth As We Know It

I decided to do a review after reading InStyle's exclusive.  Ever since I went to Chichen Itza I've been a pretty big fan of the myths of the Maya.  2012 was probably my favorite year because I got to tell everyone and their mother about the calender and about how the world WASN'T going to end.
Anyways, I believe she cited those as an inspiration along with the Egyptians.  The colors are definitely very reminiscent of those time periods.

I only picked up the eye palette's but here they are!

Hello Quetzalcoatl!

Bath & Body Works Candle Picks for Spring/Summer 2014...So Far Anyways...

So far Bath & Body Works has released a few collections for the Spring/Summer season.  I would normally get a lot more but I went WAY overboard during the fall/winter season.  Seriously, I still have 13 Marshmallow Fireside's.

Anyways, these eight little beauties are my top picks so far.  I'm sure they will release more collections and I'm sure I'll be buying from those too.  I love my candles!

I'm very happy London Calling made its return.  I heard rumors it wasn't coming back.  The rest I haven't tried yet but will be burning/testing.  I chose mine based on the description and off of the cold sniff.  As you can tell, I love sweet smells and COCONUT!  London Calling is a bit different for me, but I developed a love for that smell because I spend so much time in the UK.

I will be burning these soon and will hopefully get my thoughts on several of these candles in their own post.

Tarte Be MATTEnificent Amazonian Clay Eye & Cheek Palette

Yay for Matte's!  I've recently loved all things matte and I got my hands on it awhile ago.  This review might be a little too late but I don't's still gorgeous.  I'll just keep it short.

Kat Von D Everlasting Love Liquid Lipstick - Outlaw

I've had this for a little while now and have been waiting to review.  I love red lipsticks and recently I've been loving all things matte, so this seemed like it was going to be AWESOME!  Good news, I do think it's great, but it will take me awhile to get used to the formula, which as you can guess since it dried very matte, is pretty dry. I would suggest using a good lip scrub and even using a clean tooth brush to make sure all dead skin is removed from the lips because it will cling to it for dear life!
It dries very fast (under 30 seconds), so applying it with a brush would be hard.  It will take awhile to get the application down but since I love the finish, I will work at it.
It emphasized the lines on my lips a bit, but you can only tell if your really close to me.  Personally, I think the color and finish is worth it!
As for wear time, once it was on, it took some hard scrubbing to get it off.  It did not transfer AT ALL.  I probably could of slept in it and it would of looked the same the next morning!

I would recommend a lip liner with this to make the lines cleaner, as you can see below I could of benefited from one, but for reviewing purposes I opted out of using one.

Kat Von D Everlasting Love Liquid in Outlaw

Texture: 3.5/5
Application: 2.5/5
Wear: 5/5
Pigmentation: 5/5
Total: 4/5

My Overall thoughts:  This are lovely if you love reds and want a matte finish.  If you're not used to liquid lipsticks (like me!) it will take a little practice to get the hang of, but I certainly think it's worth it!

Available at Sephora - $19 for .18 0z.

PurpleCatCreatives Solid Perfume in Firecracker

This is a great solid perfume, although my expertise is limited since I just recently learned about solid perfumes.  They are a great alternative when you want a scent to cling close to your body instead of a cloud of perfume you can sometimes get with sprays.

On the website it is described as "Sunny mangos balanced with blooming roses and neroli blossom, spiced up with red pepper and cinnamon."

Upon first sniff you can definitely detect the pepper and cinnamon, but with a name like "Firecracker" I kind of expected a bit of spiciness.  After awhile you can definitely detect the different kind of notes.  It's a unique blend but all the notes blend well together.  It's really good for all seasons.

This particular scent is available all year long here for $9 for .25 oz.  New spring/summer scents are just starting to be released so check it out!

Loveswept EDT by Philosphy

Loveswept EDT by Philosophy, 2oz

I got a sample of this on a Sephora card when they were pushing their 3x points deal on fragrances.  I really wasn't sold at first.  It was one of those scents that I liked, but didn't love, but after letting it sit for a little bit I couldn't help but grab me a bottle.

It's a great fragrance.  Citrusy, a little flowery, a tiny bit tart and a tiny bit sweet.  Here are the notes:

Bergamot, Blue Violet, Lotus Blossom, Pink Jasmine, Purple Passion Fruit, Skin Musk, Creamy Amber, White Cedarwood.

This was kind of pushed a little for Valentine's day, but I didn't find it "romantic" enough.  It's more daytime, casual, but fun and sparkly at the same time.  It...feels young, I guess.

The smell was amazing, however, the lasting power left something to be desired.  After a couple hours I needed a retouch, but luckily this perfume is far from overpowering, so a tiny retouch won't cause people to faint from heavy smells.

This is currently available at Sephora in 3 sizes -.33 oz rollerball($20), .5 oz mini spray($16), and a 2 oz spray($46)

Colors used are all from the Naked 3 Palette:

Inner Corner - Dust
Mid Lid - Burnout
Outer Lid - Trick
